"Genocide is accomplished by mass killings but is not necessarily meant to cause the immediate extinction of a nation. It is intended rather as a coordinated plan of actions aimed at the destruction of the essential foundations of the life of certain national groups, with the goal of annihilating the groups themselves. The objectives of such a plan would be disintegration of the political and social institutions, of culture, language, national feelings, religion, economics, and the destruction of the personal security, liberty, health, dignity, as well as the lives of individuals." I call on all warring parties to lay down their weapons and

observe a global ceasefire. To them I say "Stop the killings

and the destruction, and create space for lasting peace"
